The Anatomy Lesson of Dr.
Darcy |
|
This body of work
is the reason why people in Ottawa call me Dr. Darcy. It was created
during the winter of 1992-1993 - the final year of my BFA for a course called
"Expressive Drawing" under the instruction of Evergon. It is, strictly
speaking, bad science. I executed 36 anatomical drawings in ink, paint and
collage. Some are more rooted in reality than others. I gave them faux latin
names in the spririt of old "Road Runner" cartoons. I took slides of them which
I projected onto my corresponding body parts. I made a video of the process and
overlaid a scintillating dialogue comprised of serious thoughts and
mistruths.
Here are scans of my original drawings plus a selection of
stills from the video. They're laid out like x-rays hanging from wires. All on
a sexy, hospital-green background. The pages for this work are still under
construction - if you click on an image all you will get is an error response.
Check out the video on this site!
