October 24: SAW Gallery Extravaganza |
| Performance and video artist and painters
took enthusiastic advantage of Strut Your Stuff, a benefit performance outing
at SAW Gallery in Arts Court, to raise funds and show off some of their most
ingenious and outrageous ideas in dance form, film and poetry. Guests gathered
in a cafe-life setting for the third annual extravaganza, which, along with a
number of short films and poetry readings, featured the high-jinks of "Dr.
Darcy" as Merman in I smelt something fishy (in sea major) and a set by
jehovah's Wetness. With the volunteer efforts of artists and performers, the
showcase raised a reported $700. Top, filmmaker and gallery board member Michael Bredeson, left, chats with Arts Court's Guy Dubé, who acted as emcee. Right, Andrea Poncia boxes as David Cation paints her shadow as part of SAW Gallery's fund-raising effort. Below, painter and video artist Darcy Schmidt as Dr. Darcy, preens in his Merman costume. |
