| SAW show boasts underground tone |
| The models strutting down the catwalk at
Barrymore's this weekend will be dressed for any occasion. "Black Tie 2 Bondage II," SAW Gallery's annual fashion fund-raiser, will feature everything from rave-wear, heavy metal outfits, and comic hero fashion to bondage wear performances and a Y2K survival suit. This year's show takes on a slightly more underground tone. Aside from established designer Greta Burry of Amazon Voluptus and club-wear designer Karen Friis, the individual designers will be lesser known, emerging fashion artists. Some of the businesses contributing their wares include Neighbourhood Services, offering groovy recycled fashion for the cost-conscious, Ragtime Vintage Clothing, specializing in retro fashion, and Amazon Voluptus, with funky fashions from three designers in Chapeau, Que. Although there won't be an auction, greeters will hand out business cards and phone numbers for people who want to get in touch with a designer. The SAW Gallery is an artist-run centre whose mandate is to suoport the visual arts community in Ottawa. Black Tie 2 Bondage II takes place 8 p.m. Saturday at Barrymore's, 323 Bank St. Tickets are $25, available at SAW Gallery, 67 Nicholas, Arts Court, 2 Daly Ave. and other locations such as Art Guise, 690 Bank St., Collected Works, and Barrymore's.
