The "Naked Man" costume was constructed in early 1998 for an artist talk / performance / strip tease at Gallery 101 in Ottawa, Canada. His "unit" is made from a collapsible, flexible dryer hose and is easily concealed in his leopard jock strap. People expect something a bit bigger than average but are never-the-less quite surprised when the full 3 feet of it is unfurled and stretched out at the time of the denouement. This outfit is a lot of fun to wear and is a real hit at the right kind of social function. The performance at Gallery 101 was part of their Colloquia series of artist talks. I divided mine into 3 formats: strip-tease, slide talk and video. It was really an exposé about me and all the types of media I work in, hence the title "Exposing Dr. Darcy".

I had an open bar at the gallery (Beer, Vodka & Cranberry - spring sunny Sunday afternoon kinda drinks). It was early in the day and people needed a little loosening up 'cause the show was gonna be kinda wierd - keep in mind that I was wearing this Naked Man outfit at all times, OK? My first component was a strip-tease (to a crazy disco number "Knock on Wood") from a caveman outfit down to a leopard jockstrap. Audience members had been requested to bring flashlights with them, and everyone had them on and spinning to create a nutty disco atmosphere while I stripped. Then I showed some slides of artwork from my past, and then my "Anatomy Lesson of Dr Darcy" video. That was followed by some table dancing and gyrating in peoples faces while wearing the jockstrap to "Groove is in the Heart". Then some more slides, then my really raunchy "Book in the Plain Brown Wrapper" video. The finale was one last strip to "The Immigrant Song" by Led Zeppelin. I had constructed a little "cage" out of those black foam insulating tubes that they use for hot water pipes, and I danced in that for a bit, and the crowd went balistic screaming for me to "take it off" and stuff. At the end of the song was the denouement - I slithered out of the jock strap and unleashed my gi-normous 3-ft penis and twirled it around. The crowd went totally bonkers as I pulled a pair of white boxers out of the anus of my outfit with the words "EXPOSED" written on in purple felt marker. This costume has been featured at numerous event since, including Black Tie 2 Bondage II, Exposing Dr Darcy & the Dirty Dozen Fashion Show and Peep Show, and been used in my video production FUNtastic Voyage.
